"Muse in Red Shoes" has a new home!

My painting "Muse in Red Shoes" (acrylic on canvas, 30" x 40") was just purchased by a couple in Braintree, MA. Their home is filled with art from all over the world and I'm honored that one of my paintings is part of their beautiful collection! At my last show in Cambridge, MA (DesignHive) two weeks ago, I met a woman from Chicago who was looking for something a little different. After talking to her for a bit, she asked if it was possible for me to make her a smaller version of one of my goddess necklaces... I thought, why not? so I took her suggestion and came up with this new necklace (it's made with smaller pieces of glass... perfect for a petite lady). Thanks for the tip Constance!

Framingham Craft Fair - April 4 & DesignHive in Cambridge - April 5

On Saturday, April 4th I set up shop in Framingham at the 21st annual Framingham Auxiliary Police Craft Fair. There were about 200 vendors selling all kinds of items, some handmade and crafty, and others, not so much... But it's always rewarding participating in an event where the proceeds benefit an important cause. And in this case, the spolight was on the Framingham Auxiliary Police who stand as a ready reserve, part of the Emergency Management infrastructure, to assist in case of natural or civil disaster. So a big thank you to those who serve!

Sunday, April 5th, I was at DesignHive in Cambridge and met lots of great people!

I shared space with a local designer JoAnne Coppolo, JOJO who reinvents clothing into new, one of a kind pieces for youngsters ranging in size from 12 mo-5/6T. Her clothing line fit right in with the theme of the day... "Get Green & Groovy". The event showcased a range of vendors who produce eco-friendly products made from salvaged or repurposed materials.

My other neighbor, painter extraordinaire, and current Somerville resident, Caroline Wampole, kept me entertained and laughing throughout the day with stories of her life in Paris.
She'll be showing her paintings at the Somerville Open Studios on May 2 + 3 at Wampoline Studios, 38 Harvard Street. Stop by and check out her work.

I also encountered another beautiful soul, Vangile Makwakwa who happened to be at the DesignHive to model in the Get Green & Groovy fashion show. She was so lovely I asked her to model some of my necklaces and she did! (see pic - she's wearing one of my new necklaces from the goddess collection)

If you need a model for future events, get in touch with her. Sawubona Vangile! And if you like this necklace and are interested in purchasing one for yourself or as a gift, please send me an email. Each necklace is designed and handcrafted by me, Liza Abelson, making it unique and one of a kind!

F.A.M.E. at Via Matta - April 1st

Thank you to everyone who stopped by F.A.M.E. at Via Matta last night even though it was yucky out and raining. Casey Williams (aka DJ Just Joan) and I had a fabulous time and hope you did too.

Casey's newest paintings are fantastic (photo: Liza, Casey, Casey's painting), and she set the tone for the night by creating a lovely feast for the ears and eyes.

I'm looking forward to this weekend where I'll be bringing my glass goods and jewels to the 21st annual crafts fair in Framingham (750 Winter St) on Saturday and the DesignHive in Cambridge (28 Sacramento St) on Sunday. Stop by - would love to see you!
